Visit of a delegation from the University of Zielona Góra in Vietnam

On the first day of their stay in Vietnam, a delegation of the University of Zielona Góra (UZ) consisting of Dr. Marcin Mrugalski, Prof. UZ - Vice-Rector for Science and International Cooperation, Dr. Van Cao Long, Prof. UZ - UZ representative for Cooperation with Universities in Vietnam, and Kornel Piwowarczyk, M.Sc. employee of the International Cooperation Office, participated in a meeting with the authorities of Hanoi University of Culture (HUC). During the meeting, Ms. Professor Pham Thi Thu Huong - Rector of HUC presented the history and potential of the university, then Professor Mrugalski presented the current offer of UZ in the field of international cooperation and education of foreign students. In particular, he presented the rules of international exchange of students and employees within the framework of the Erasmus+ program and the NAWA scholarship offer for Vietnamese students at UZ. In addition, the rules for hiring visiting professors at UZ were discussed. The meeting was also attended by the deans of the faculties of Linguistics, Cultural Studies, Tourism, Journalism, Law, and representatives of the Foreign Cooperation Office of the Hanoi Cultural University. During the meeting, the results of nearly 10 years of cooperation between the universities were discussed, both in terms of faculty and student exchanges and the effects of scientific cooperation, which included the publication of 3 joint monographs.

The next stage of the visit was a meeting between the UZ delegation and the authorities of Hanoi Metropolitan University (HMU). Located in the Vietnamese capital, HMU emerged from a pedagogical college to educate nearly 10,000 students in 8 faculties. Professor Bui Van Quan - Rector of HMU presented the history and potential of her university, and then Professor Mrugalski presented UZ and potential areas of cooperation. The meeting culminated in the signing of a cooperation agreement between the universities in the areas of personnel exchange between the two universities, education and research. Then, within the framework of the established cooperation, the UZ delegation had the opportunity to participate in an international conference organized by HMU. The topics of the conference were devoted to the education systems operating in different countries, the development of the competence of academic staff and the exchange of experience and good practices in the area of student education.

Thai Binh University (TBU) was another university visited by the UZ delegation during its visit to Vietnam. It is the largest university in Thai Binh province, which works closely with local industry. During the meeting, in addition to the presentation of the two universities, the terms of cooperation were negotiated. The visit was crowned with the signing of a bilateral agreement on cooperation between the universities, and the scope of cooperation in the coming year was established, among other things, in the area of organizing joint conferences and publications.

Another university visited by the UZ delegation was Hong Duc University (HDU) located in Thang Hoa city. It is worth mentioning that a delegation from HDU was hosted at UZ on July 13, 2023. The meeting with HDU authorities was an opportunity to summarize the long-standing cooperation to date and discuss in detail the expansion of cooperation in the field of academic staff mobility. One of the outcomes of the visit was the signing of a new agreement under the Erasmus+ program allowing the exchange of students and staff in the areas of Economics, Management and Computer Science.

During the visit to Hanoi and Thang Hoa, the UZ delegation was invited to meetings organized by more than a dozen graduate students in Vietnam who studied physics, music and visual arts at UZ. During the meeting in Thang Hoa held in an extremely joyful atmosphere, the students discussed the establishment of a UZ alumni club in Vietnam. The meeting was also attended by Mariusz Michta, Ph.D., UZ professor, an employee of the Institute of Mathematics who implements teaching activities at HDU under the Erasmus+ program.

In addition, as part of UZ's cooperation with the Institute for Technology Application and Education Development (INTED) in Hanoi initiated during INTED's visit to Zielona Gora on June 16, 2023, the delegation had the opportunity to visit the CLC KY BA kindergarten in Thai Binh and the Doraemon kindergarten in Ha Tinh. It was an opportunity to learn about the innovative system of teaching children, which is conducted in extremely modern units. The final item on the UZ delegation's visit to Vietnam was a meeting with INTED representatives. During this meeting, potential opportunities for cooperation in the field of education, organization of conferences and recruitment of students to the University of Zielona Góra were discussed.
