New opportunities have opened up for students of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at the University of Zielona Góra (UZ). On Wednesday, April 23, a new partner laboratory was inaugurated. The lab was established through a collaboration between the University and Auctane, a company that has equipped the existing teaching facilities with new, specialized equipment. This will enable not only the conduct of classes but also the implementation of student projects in the field of e-business.
The partnership between the University of Zielona Góra and Auctane is considered a long-term collaboration. “Our partner is a leading company in e-commerce and e-business solutions, particularly in logistics for courier shipments. They’ve been supporting us for many years. In the IT industry, keeping up with labor market trends, team work culture, and global company standards is essential. One major benefit is the inclusion of our students in technologically relevant projects. They are learning technologies that are currently in demand” says Dr. Eng. Anna Pławiak-Mowna, UZ Professor and coordinator of the collaboration with Auctane.
The benefits of the partnership are also recognized by the other party. “This cooperation has been ongoing for many years. Now it’s time to refresh the lab equipment, so we provided new computers and monitors. But our partnership goes beyond that. Our specialists also deliver lectures at UZ. We organize internships and placements for students. When needed and feasible, we’ve even supported diploma theses” explains Paweł Przybyła, site leader at Auctane.
A modern laboratory also increases the chances of training future professionals for the industry. “Auctane has the opportunity to train them here with us. It’s a chance to gain employees who are already familiar with the software and equipment used in the company. I believe that UZ graduates will end up working with our partner—first through internships and placements, and eventually full employment. It’s also a form of promotion that is very important to us. This is yet another partner laboratory that we are opening at our university”
adds Prof. Dr. Hab. Wojciech Strzyżewski, Rector of the University of Zielona Góra.
The opening of the lab was part of AUCTANE Open Day at UZ. The event also featured a lecture titled “Error Handling and Logging – Insuring Your Application.”
The session was led by experienced engineers Adam Rapicki and Danuta Dygas, who discussed the importance of error messages and how to design them to ensure application resilience and functionality.
