On Wednesday, 25 February this year, an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders of the Karol Marcinkowski University Hospital in Zielona Góra was held at the premises of the Marshal’s Office of the Lubuskie Voivodeship. The principal item on the agenda was the adoption of a resolution to increase the hospital’s share capital by nearly PLN 500 million. This was made possible through an in-kind contribution by the Voivodeship Board in the form of real estate and land previously used by the hospital on a gratuitous loan basis.
The capital increase is intended to ensure the hospital’s ongoing proper operation, thereby guaranteeing the continuity of healthcare service provision. The measure is fully consistent with the company’s statutory objectives and supports the fulfilment of its core functions.
As a result, the shareholding structure will be as follows: 98.42% of shares held by the Lubuskie Voivodeship and 1.58% by the University of Zielona Góra.
The introduced changes will not affect the education of students enrolled in medical programmes at the University of Zielona Góra. Hospital departments will continue to be made available to the University for the purposes of undergraduate and postgraduate medical training. In accordance with Article 89(6) of the Act on Medical Activity, the hospital will also retain its designation as a “university hospital.”
