From May 26 to 30, the University of Zielona Góra hosted the in-person component of the second edition of an interdisciplinary educational project focused on exploring mechanisms that bring order to complex systems. This year's edition—following the format of the previous year—was carried out under the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) and was titled "Dynamics of Interactions in Various Complex Systems."
The event was organized by three institutes at the University of Zielona Góra: the Institute of Biological Sciences (coordinator: Dr. Sylwia Andrzejczak-Grządko), the Institute of Physics (coordinator: Dr. hab. Sylwia Kondej, Prof. UZ), and the Institute of Sociology (coordinator: Dr. Magdalena Pokrzyńska).
The week was filled with inspiring activities and brought together students from Romania (University of Alba Iulia), Slovakia (University of Presov), Lithuania (Klaipeda University), Italy (Milano University), as well as students from Spain and Georgia currently studying at UZ, alongside Polish students.
The programme had an interdisciplinary character, combining perspectives from biology, physics, sociology, astrophysics, and urban studies. Participants engaged in lectures, workshops, laboratory sessions, and fieldwork held across both UZ campuses, the Rectorate, as well as in various locations in the city of Zielona Góra and its surroundings, such as Krępa and Zatonie. Together, they sought patterns, harmony, and a deeper understanding of the complex systems that shape our daily lives.
A special highlight of the programme was the debate titled "Democracy and Democratic Elections in the Era of Disinformation on Social Networks," held at the Marshal’s Office in Zielona Góra and moderated by Dr. Claudiu Stefani. The debate featured both BIP participants and members of the Lubusz Region Youth Parliament.
In addition to academic activities, the event also emphasized integration. Students competed in sports tournaments, explored the mysteries of Zielona Góra’s Witch Trail, and concluded the week with an evening barbecue attended by over 100 students from around the world studying in Zielona Góra.
