The Academic Motor Association of the University of Zielona Góra (AZM UZ) represented our University at INOVA Croatia – one of the largest and most prestigious international exhibitions of innovation and invention in Europe. The event took place in Zagreb on 24–28 September 2025, attracting thousands of exhibitors from Europe and Asia (including China, Thailand, Malaysia, and India). Competing against a strong international field, our team achieved yet another remarkable success!
During the exhibition, a team of AZM students – Amadeusz Korona, Łukasz Owczarz, Igor Wachowiak, and Jakub Świgło, supervised by MSc Eng. Zdzisław Wałęga from the Institute of Mechanical Engineering at UZ – presented their latest project: an innovative, modified upper-limb rehabilitation orthosis, designed to enhance the effectiveness of therapy and improve patient comfort. The solution reflects current trends in biomedical engineering and is an excellent example of applying academic research results in clinical practice.
The AZM project was highly praised by the international jury and received three major awards:
Congratulations to the entire team!
The UZ representatives were also honoured by a visit to their exhibition stand from José Manuel Noronha, President of the Government Institution and Chairman of the Innovation Council of Goa (India), who expressed his appreciation for the project.
“We are deeply moved by the tremendous interest our invention has received. It is a great honour to represent the University of Zielona Góra on the international stage,” said the team led by MSc Eng. Zdzisław Wałęga.
The success at INOVA Croatia 2025 confirms the high level of innovation and creativity demonstrated by the University of Zielona Góra team.
Participation in this event not only provided an opportunity to showcase the University’s pioneering solutions to an international audience but also represented an important step in building global prestige and visibility for the institution and in promoting Polish science abroad.
Innovative Orthosis Project
It is worth recalling that in 2024, AZM UZ won the “Klakson – Impulse for Innovation” competition with its Innovative Hand Orthosis – a project designed for patients with upper limb spasticity (following stroke or injury) or fractures.
In this year’s edition, the team was once again awarded for the project titled “Development of an Innovative Hand Orthosis Using a Mobile Application, Dynamic Adjustment Function, and Muscle Signal Reading for Motion Detection”, designed for patients with spasticity or fractures.
The orthosis has also received international acclaim, winning:
