In January, we are pleased to announce two winners of the Graduate Extra competition from the Faculty of Engineering and Technical Sciences at the University of Zielona Góra.
Filip Kolasa is a graduate of the Computer Science engineering program, which he completed with the highest honors. He is a co-author of scientific publications on the fundamentals of artificial intelligence. During his studies, he worked on projects in both computer science and electronics, applying his knowledge of IT system design principles. He also participated in numerous international programming competitions, including Code Jam, Kick Start, and Epic MegaJam.
Filip is ambitious and determined, approaching his work with great seriousness and meticulouse attention to detail to achieve the best possible results. In addition to his passion for computer science, particularly C++ programming, he actively pursues his love for music, playing both the piano and electric guitar. In his free time, he enjoys solving logic puzzles.

Dominik Zaborniak completed his master’s degree in Automation and Robotics with the highest honors and received the Dean’s Award for an outstanding thesis. He participated in the ‘Integrated International Studies’ program, which enabled him to obtain a double engineering degree with distinction from both the University of Zielona Góra and the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen – University of Applied Sciences in Giessen, Germany.
According to his academic supervisors, during his thesis work, Dominik demonstrated exceptional engineering skills, including: design and construction abilities (he independently designed and built the research object), system development expertise (he designed both the hardware and software control system), research capabilities (he compared different control strategies for various objects).
During his student internship in Giessen, he applied the Kalman filter to estimate machine positions on a 2D map based on signal strength from nearby beacons. Currently, he is continuing his education at the Doctoral School of Exact and Technical Sciences at the University of Zielona Góra. Beyond his interests in programming and 3D printing, he is also passionate about traveling and sailing.
