II Tourism Day at the University of Zielona Góra

19.04.2024 Employees Students

The post may contain outdated information. The Institute of Sport, Tourism and Nutrition of the University of Zielona Góra organized the Tourism Day for the second time. The theme of this year's event was travels on different wheels. During the meeting, participants could listen to lectures on the organization, course, and most surprising situations during the expeditions undertaken by the invited guests. Like last year, a photography contest accompanied the event.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Ryszard Asienkiewicz, prof. UZ - Director of the Institute of Sport, Tourism and Nutrition of UZ, Dr. Agnieszka Gandecka, Deputy Director of ISTiŻ, Dr. Olga Mądrzak from the Department of Tourism and Recreation, who initiated the idea of celebrating Tourism Day at the University of Zielona Góra, lecturers, students, and high school students with their teachers.

The meeting consisted of listening to the lectures of the invited guests - travelers. Each of them had interesting stories from their journeys to share. There were also tips, such as how to visit Australia on a small budget, what to take with you on a camper trip to Morocco, or what to expect during a solo cycling expedition in the Himalayas.

Mateusz Kosior - Volunteer Work Upside Down. Australia and New Zealand - 7 months of hitchhiking travel. A spontaneous route with a budget based on own work in exchange for food and accommodation. Harsh sun, deadly venomous snakes, Aboriginal artists, Tasmanian rainforest, a city smelling of sulfur, cheeky alpine parrots, private astronomical observatory, and a tour of city cafes. All thanks to the good people I met on my way in pursuit of my own happiness.

Julia and Norbert Zarembowie - Camping with a child: Dolomites, Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. A photographic story of a three-month camper trip. Italian Dolomites and hiking in the mountains. Northern Spain and western Portugal, charming with beautiful cliffs and surfing spots. Morocco - a place of incredible contrasts.

Marcin Korzonek - Himalayas by bike - A story of a solo cycling expedition through one of the most famous roads in the world - 1300 km through the Indian part of the Himalayas called Little Tibet. A story about why this dangerous road was created by the Indian army and is only open for a few months a year, and how to ride a bike when there is only half of oxygen in the air.

Prizes were also awarded for the photography contest titled "Travel on Wheels"! The first place in the student category was awarded to Tomasz Ostrowski, a sixth-year medical student at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Zielona Góra.
