This is already the third edition of the event, originally aimed at presenting the results of diploma theses by graduates of the Geoinformatics and Satellite Techniques program at the Faculty of Engineering and Technical Sciences of the University of Zielona Góra. The formula of this year's edition, SatGisPlan 2025, has been expanded to include an international conference titled "Innovations for Sustainable Development".
During the event, the potential, innovative ideas, and knowledge possessed by graduates of the Geoinformatics and Satellite Techniques program as they enter the job market were showcased. The presented diploma theses focused on geoinformatics techniques and artificial intelligence, based on the theme of sustainable development. As emphasized by Dr. habil. Eng. Anna Bazan-Krzywoszańska, Prof. UZ, Chair of the SatGisPlan Scientific Committee: - The fundamental idea of SatGisPlan is to inform local government units, scientific institutions, enterprises, and secondary schools that such a program exists at the University of Zielona Góra. We want to promote the idea of geoinformatics, which is widespread in our world.
The official opening of this two-day event was attended by Prof. Dr. habil. Wojciech Strzyżewski, Rector of UZ, as well as vice-rectors and the university chancellor. The Marshal's Office was represented by Dr. habil. Eng. Sebastian Saniuk, Prof. UZ, Director of the Department of Economy and Development at the Marshal's Office of the Lubusz Voivodeship. The city was represented by Dr. Jarosław Flakowski, Deputy Mayor of Zielona Góra. Also present was the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Prof. Dr. habil. Eng. Maria Mrówczyńska, who stated: - This is a very significant development for both Poland as a whole and the Lubusz Voivodeship. These fields - not only geoinformatics and satellite techniques but all technical fields - are currently crucial, not only due to the geopolitical situation but also for national development. We know that these fields are not the most popular choices because studying them is demanding. Nevertheless, I encourage high school graduates to consider technical studies, as they are both rewarding and offer exciting career opportunities after graduation, - summarized Deputy Minister Prof. M. Mrówczyńska.
The event also featured a welcome address from Prof. Marek Banaszkiewicz, President of the Space Technology Park.
This year’s edition was organized with the participation of faculty members from the Institutes of Architecture and Urban Planning, Astronomy, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, and Environmental Engineering, as well as representatives of enterprises collaborating with the Faculty of Engineering and Technical Sciences at UZ. The expert panels featured 25 presentations covering various aspects of modern technology applications, including the role of geoinformation in the modern economy.
SatGisPlan 2025 brought together representatives from public administration, socio-economic institutions, the academic community, as well as teachers and students from secondary schools at the Space Technology Park in Nowy Kisielin. The event also provided an opportunity for affiliated research institutions and R&D centers to present their offerings.
