In March, we are pleased to present two laureates of the Graduate Extra 2024 Contest: Lic. Weronika Łuczak from the Faculty of Humanities and Eng. Weronika Malinowska from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture, and Environmental Engineering (currently the Faculty of Engineering and Technical Sciences).
Lic. Weronika Łuczak – Faculty of Humanities
Weronika Łuczak is a graduate of the Bachelor’s program in Journalism and Social Communication, specializing in Information Brokerage. She completed her studies with distinction. From her first year, she actively participated in academic life, particularly through her involvement in the Journalism Student Research Group "Faktor," where she eventually became the chairperson.
Together with the group, she co-created projects such as inspirational quote calendars, organized student and doctoral conferences, and led journalism workshops for high school students. In 2023-2024, she served as the Editor-in-Chief of the GAFA festival newspaper, published during the Lubuskie Film Summer Festival. Her academic achievements include delivering a presentation at the 3rd Media Studies Conference and publishing a book chapter as well as articles in scientific journals.
Her internship at Akademickie Radio Index turned into a long-term collaboration. She is the creator of the radio programs "Student After Hours" and "UZ Navigator," a co-host of the live morning show, and a radio DJ. Additionally, she gained experience as a host, leading events such as the Graduate Extra 2024 Gala and concerts during Bachanalia, the largest cultural festival in Zielona Góra.

Eng. Weronika Malinowska – Faculty of Engineering and Technical Sciences
Weronika Malinowska is a graduate of the Bachelor's program in Civil Engineering with an engineering degree. Her choice of studies was not accidental - she had previously completed technical school as a construction technician. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree, specializing in Construction Technology and Organization.
During her studies, she was actively involved in the Student Research Group "Modern Builders," where she developed teamwork skills through activities such as organizing Open Days and study trips, including: PERI company training in Warsaw and Participation in the "Hall Construction" conference in Gdańsk.
As a civil engineering student, she also took part in conferences and lectures organized by the Lubusz Chamber of Civil Engineers. Her achievements include: 1st place in the Best Poster Contest at the 11th Scientific and Technical Conference and co-authorship of two scientific articles in a peer-reviewed industry journal.
Her thesis project, which focused on adapting a historic building to enhance its architectural and functional value, won her a laureate title in the Best Graduate Thesis in Civil Engineering Contest 2024.
Beyond her academic and professional interests, she has been passionate about dance and music since the age of six. She is a hip-hop dance instructor, enthusiastically leading children's and youth dance groups. She also enjoys playing the piano and grand piano.
