The University of Zielona Góra is taking another milestone step towards innovation and regional development. The Center for Renewable Energy, the LOIiWA company, and the Science and Technology Park are joining forces by integrating their resources and expertise under the newly established Research and Development Center of the University of Zielona Góra (CBR UZ).
The University of Zielona Góra's Research and Development Centers form a modern enterprise that brings together the potential of science and business to create innovative technological solutions. The center will focus on three key areas, each led by dedicated directors:
As part of its activities, the center will carry out R&D projects, support businesses and public institutions, and effectively implement innovations through knowledge transfer and technology commercialization.
The synergy of these three areas is aimed at creating and implementing innovative solutions – from concept to commercialization. This is the University of Zielona Góra’s special purpose vehicle’s response to the needs of a rapidly changing market and the expectations of modern enterprises.
“Our goal is to build strong and lasting relationships between the world of science and business. CBR UZ is a space where these two worlds co-create innovations with real value for the economy” says Radosław Grech, President of the newly established center.
The new management structure will enable even more effective use of the resources of nearly 40 state-of-the-art laboratories, an interdisciplinary team of experts, and years of experience in implementing projects worth over 20 million PLN. The center’s existing clientele – over 720 companies from various industries – already benefit from advanced solutions in energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, electromobility, as well as food processing, horticulture, and nursery production.
Now, thanks to this collaboration, access to knowledge, infrastructure, and funding will become even easier. New opportunities for cooperation will open up not only for local entrepreneurs, but also for national and international partners.
“Science for Business” is the flagship project of the new strategy, offering comprehensive support for companies in technology transfer, innovation implementation, and access to R&D financing instruments.
“Go Green Kompetenzzentrum” is another pillar of the strategy – a Polish-German Competence Center for Green Transformation that addresses the growing demands of the Green Deal and sustainable development. The center will support companies in measuring and reducing carbon footprints, analyzing product life cycles (LCA), and developing ESG-compliant strategies.
“We’ll demonstrate how the obligations stemming from the Green Deal can be turned into a competitive advantage. We help companies become not only greener but also more profitable,”
adds R. Grech.
The “Go Green Kompetenzzentrum” project is not only about supporting energy and environmental transformation but also about significantly increasing companies’ competitiveness on both the national and European markets.
The integration of these structures is also intended to streamline administrative procedures and create even better conditions for startup incubation, knowledge transfer, and building regional innovation ecosystems. By strengthening staff and infrastructure capacity, entrepreneurs can expect comprehensive support – from idea to implementation of a breakthrough solution.
