New Welding Laboratory at UZ Now Open

A fully equipped welding laboratory was officially opened on Thursday, May 29, at the University of Zielona Góra. The facility was created thanks to a collaboration between the university and two companies — Lincoln Electric Bester Sp. z o.o. and Adient Poland Sp. z o.o. As project partners, the companies provided the specialized equipment and systems. The state-of-the-art lab will allow students of the Faculty of Engineering and Technical Sciences at the University of Zielona Góra to learn and practice modern welding methods.

As Prof. Wojciech Strzyżewski, Rector of UZ, explains: "Every such laboratory and every modern technology makes it easier for students to enter their future professions. I'm very pleased that more companies with such excellent backgrounds are choosing to work with us. It’s also great that students will be able to hone their skills — or even learn welding from scratch — using such advanced equipment. The salaries in the welding profession clearly show that these skills and this kind of education will always be in demand. As a university, we aim to respond to labor market needs and our students’ expectations."

The new welding lab was established in part thanks to Adient Poland Sp. z o.o. from Świebodzin. "This is not only an opportunity for the university, but also for us. For 25 years, we’ve been producing components — metal structures for car seats. Our products are shipped all over the world. Opening this lab at UZ is a step forward for us. Firstly, it brings business and science together — something we haven’t had before. Supporting students also means preparing and recruiting new employees. For us, it's crucial that young people gain these skills, competencies, and their first practical experience," adds Sławomir Zarębski from Adient Poland Sp. z o.o.

The second sponsor of the laboratory in Hall A-9 is Lincoln Electric Bester Sp. z o.o., which provided the equipment and systems it manufactures. "Collaboration between industry and education is very important. Our partnership with the University of Zielona Góra and Adient Poland Sp. z o.o. is extremely valuable to us. This is about training future professionals and transferring new technologies," explains Michał Puza from Lincoln Electric Bester Sp. z o.o.

The welding laboratory will be a key support facility for students of the Faculty of Engineering and Technical Sciences at the University of Zielona Góra. It will be used primarily by students of mechanical engineering and mechatronics.
