Orientation Week 2025 at the University of Zielona Góra

Between 6 and 10 October 2025, the University of Zielona Góra hosted Orientation Week – a welcome event for international students beginning their studies at the university. The initiative, organized by the International Cooperation Department with the support of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN UZ), aimed to introduce participants to academic life, foster integration, and help them discover the culture of the region.

Day 1 – Welcome Meeting (6 October 2025)

The week began with an official welcome delivered by the Vice-Rector for Science and International Cooperation, Prof. Justyna Patalas-Maliszewska, DSc, Eng. Students attended presentations prepared by the International Cooperation Department and ESN UZ, during which they learned about the university’s structure, degree programmes, and key events organized within the Erasmus+ framework.

After the official part, participants took a guided walk around Campus A, where staff from the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering and Technical Sciences presented fascinating scientific demonstrations, introducing students to the world of experiments and discoveries.

Day 2 – City Tour and Urban Game (7 October 2025)

On the second day, students explored the charms of Zielona Góra through a city game focused on discovering the famous Bachusiki – small figurines that are symbols of the city. This unique activity combined fun with learning about local history and culture, while also encouraging team spirit and integration among participants.

Day 3 – Campus B and the University Library (8 October 2025)

The third day was dedicated to learning and practical information. Students visited Campus B and the University Library, where they became acquainted with the university’s extensive academic resources, modern infrastructure, and the rules for accessing university services.

Day 4 – Trip to Międzyrzecz and Pniewo (9 October 2025)

On the fourth day, participants went on a field trip to Międzyrzecz and Pniewo, visiting the Piast Castle in Międzyrzecz and the famous Międzyrzecz Fortified Region (MRU) in Pniewo. The excursion provided an excellent opportunity to learn about the region’s history and explore its cultural and tourist attractions together.

Day 5 – International Dinner (10 October 2025)

Orientation Week concluded with the traditional International Dinner, during which students prepared dishes typical of their home countries. The evening, filled with flavours, music, and conversation, was a true celebration of cultural diversity and a perfect finale to Orientation Week 2025.

This year’s Orientation Week brought together 65 students from Turkey, Spain, Nigeria, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Greece, France, and Pakistan.
