“Panorama” as Artists’ Response to the University’s Anniversary

A wide spectrum of artistic techniques is one of the elements that may surprise visitors to the “Panorama” exhibition. The exhibition was created to mark the ongoing 25th anniversary of the University of Zielona Góra. The works on display include graphic art, photography, installations and paintings, all created by members of the Institute of Visual Arts at the University of Zielona Góra.

The collected works share another common feature: they showcase the potential of a community that, for many years, through diverse interdisciplinary activities that are visually and intellectually impressive, has been building the artistic identity of the region and actively shaping the brand and image of the University of Zielona Góra on both the academic and cultural map.

“This was our intention: to present the full spectrum of what we do at our Institute. The exhibition includes objects, drawing, painting, and activities related to painting and drawing. Together, all of these elements create a certain image of our Institute and serve as a kind of showcase,” emphasised Radosław Czarkowski, DSc, Director of the Institute of Visual Arts at the University of Zielona Góra.

“Panorama” presents works by 25 members of the Institute of Visual Arts who expressed their willingness to participate in this unique project.

“The exhibition offers insight into fundamental existential experiences, questions concerning particularly difficult phenomena, as well as issues related to ecology and technological development. Among the exhibits is an installation featuring living plants. There is also a work that will change during the course of the exhibition. It is a photograph that has not been fixed and will gradually begin to fade over time. One of the works is a graphic sculpture equipped with NFC technology. By connecting to radio waves, visitors can discover various locations in the urban space where additional artworks have been placed, referencing what can be seen here,” explained Professor Lidia Głuchowska from the Institute of Visual Arts at the University of Zielona Góra.

The “Panorama” exhibition will be open until 30 November. The exhibition can be viewed at the Professor Jan Berdyszak Gallery of the University of Zielona Góra Library.
