In June this year, official celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the University of Zielona Góra will take place. The programme of events will include, among others, a ceremonial meeting of the University Senate and the Science Festival. The University authorities have also invited the City of Zielona Góra to take part in the joint celebrations.
The anniversary was one of the key topics discussed during a recent meeting held at the University Rector’s Office. The meeting was attended by Prof. Wojciech Strzyżewski, PhD, DSc, Rector of the University of Zielona Góra; Katarzyna Łasińska, PhD Eng., Chancellor of the University; Marcin Pabierowski, Mayor of Zielona Góra; and his three deputies – Marek Kamiński, Paweł Tonder, and Jarosław Flakowski, PhD.
“We want to celebrate our anniversary together with the residents and the city authorities. Today’s discussions were an introduction to joint initiatives. Further meetings are planned, during which we will present and discuss the details of these events,”
said Prof. Wojciech Strzyżewski, Rector of the University of Zielona Góra.
The meeting at the Rector’s Office was also an opportunity to address issues related to the joint management of real estate currently used by the University. The participants also discussed investment projects that the University plans to undertake in the near future. Additionally, the talks between University authorities and representatives of the City Hall provided an opportunity to sign an agreement on the implementation of a modern city monitoring system. As part of a project developed in cooperation with the German city of Cottbus, a system of sensors and a dedicated application will be created to enable ongoing monitoring and tracking of air quality and public safety.
