On Saturday, 27 June, students from the Law, Economics, Finance and Accounting, and Management programmes received their university graduation diplomas. Another 110 graduates left the Faculty of Legal and Economic Sciences. It was a time for reflection, emotion and looking ahead to what comes next.
The ceremonial graduation brought together the authorities of the University of Zielona Góra Faculty of Legal and Economic Sciences, academic staff and, above all, the graduates and their loved ones in the auditorium of the University of Zielona Góra. The Dean of the Faculty of Legal and Economic Sciences, Dr Andrzej Bisztyga, Associate Professor at UZ, emphasised that this is a special moment in the lives of these young people: “These are not only positive emotions, but also deeply moving and solemn ones. It is a celebration of our Faculty, but also of the University of Zielona Góra. We should appreciate the fact that completing these, in many cases, demanding studies is a significant achievement for these young people. The symbolic graduation ceremony is a way of recognising their efforts and acknowledging that they are entering a new role as people who contribute to shaping the social and economic reality of our region and the Republic of Poland. We should thank them and symbolically recognise this achievement. I would also emphasise the need to appreciate and thank the families of our graduates – their parents, grandparents, spouses, partners, children and all those close to them. This is a good time for our Faculty and our University, and it is also a promise that the needs of the Lubusz Voivodeship will be supported by serious and competent professionals.”
According to the students, their time at the University of Zielona Góra was demanding, but it also gave them the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills in their chosen professions. Wiktoria Sztuder, a Law student, shared her plans for the future: “I am feeling very emotional. Five years of hard work have passed, and finally this day has arrived. We still have our thesis defence ahead of us, which I hope will go smoothly. Afterwards, I hope to begin my legal apprenticeship. I am planning my future in Zielona Góra. I am very attached to this city. My entire family and my friends are here, so I cannot imagine leaving.”
In the following days, graduation ceremonies were also held for students of the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences at UZ, as well as for students of Psychology and Preschool and Early Childhood Education programmes at the Faculty of Social Sciences at UZ.
