University of Zielona Góra Botanical Garden Becomes a Venue for Running Competitions

The first edition of the Botanic Five in Zielona Góra is now behind us—a unique run surrounded by nature. As the name suggests, participants covered a distance of five kilometers. The looped course ran through the University of Zielona Góra Botanical Garden and the nearby park.

Participants could choose to run or walk in either the amateur or professional group. Dozens of runners competed across six age categories. Children were also welcome to take part—special routes ranging from 150 to 1,000 meters were prepared for the youngest participants. Every runner, regardless of their final result, received a commemorative medal.

“Our series now includes twelve locations. We promote not only physical activity but also exceptional places. The first Botanic Five events were held in 2017 in Poznań and Warsaw. Our runs are becoming increasingly popular, with several thousand participants each year,” said Michał Dublaga, event coordinator.

The Botanic Five took place in Zielona Góra for the very first time, making the UZ Botanical Garden one of just a dozen venues to host the event. The next run, part of the summer edition, will take place on August 31 of this year, this time in a virtual format.
