Researchers and students from the University of Zielona Góra achieved outstanding success at the 18th International Exhibition of Creativity and Innovation EUROINVENT 2026, held in Iași, Romania, from 28 to 30 May 2026. Recognized as one of the most significant innovation and invention events in Central and Eastern Europe, EUROINVENT 2026 brought together nearly 700 projects from approximately 45 countries.
The University of Zielona Góra was represented by a team from the Academic Motor Association (AZM UZ) operating within the Institute of Mechanical Engineering. Led by Zdzisław Wałęga, M.Sc., Eng., the team included students Amadeusz Korona, Jakub Zimny, Paweł Rodenko, Zuzanna Łopata, and Aniela Dylewicz.
The team presented an innovative medical device entitled “Active Innovative Elbow Orthosis with a Modular Architecture.” The project was developed as part of the “Klakson – Impulse for Innovation” initiative and addresses challenges in modern rehabilitation through advanced engineering solutions.
Protected by patent applications filed both in Poland and at the European level, the invention received exceptionally high evaluations from the international jury and was honored with the following awards:
These awards provide international recognition of the high-quality research and innovation activities carried out at the University of Zielona Góra. The success of the project highlights the value of close collaboration between academic staff and students in developing cutting-edge solutions with significant potential for applications in rehabilitation engineering and biomedical technologies.
Special recognition was given to Zdzisław Wałęga, M.Sc., Eng., who led and coordinated the research and development activities, managed the patent protection process, and supervised the preparation of the invention for international presentation. The project’s success reflects his expertise, commitment, and ability to integrate scientific research with the practical education of future engineers.
The students involved in the project also played a vital role, contributing actively to the design, development, testing, and presentation of the invention. Their dedication and teamwork were instrumental in achieving this remarkable international success.
