The University of Zielona Góra has unveiled another state-of-the-art laboratory, this time in collaboration with Perceptus. Together, they have established a cybersecurity lab equipped with modern computer hardware and software, ensuring the development of IT skills and an even deeper exploration of IT security systems.
The newly established lab is part of the "Cybersecurity" postgraduate studies program. "Our company sponsors this program. We have been working with the University of Zielona Góra for ten years now. Initially, our collaboration focused on the Perceptus IT Security Academy, which provided cybersecurity education to full-time students. This year marks an evolution—shifting from basic training to postgraduate studies," explains Jacek Starościc, CEO of Perceptus. "The lab is designed to showcase cybersecurity opportunities to students. We provide insights into the security challenges faced by public administration units, businesses, and large state institutions. Additionally, the lab fosters student integration. Cyber threats have always existed, but modern hybrid warfare highlights them even more. We must take these issues seriously," adds Jacek Starościc.
According to Prof. Wojciech Strzyżewski, Rector of the University of Zielona Góra, the partnership with Perceptus ensures that students have access to industry-relevant hardware and software. "Our partners understand what equipment and software are needed in the job market and what tools professionals use. The collaboration with Perceptus is a great example of how our students benefit from cutting-edge and industry-relevant technology. The lab has been equipped with high-capacity computers, allowing students to test different cyberattack prevention techniques."
Thanks to its excellent specifications, the equipment will also be used for other advanced courses, such as virtualization techniques and containerization testing. "This technology makes testing and exercises much faster. Access to the latest technology significantly improves our work. It's amazing to see how much has changed in the last twenty years since I completed my first degree," says Marcin Czerniak, a Cybersecurity student.
The Perceptus Laboratory has been established at the Faculty of Engineering and Technical Sciences at the University of Zielona Góra.
