The University of Zielona Góra has joined the group of universities offering the European Student Card (ESC) – a modern electronic document designed to make life easier for students studying abroad under the Erasmus+ programme. The card, which is part of a Europe-wide initiative, allows students to confirm their academic status at universities across Europe, access academic services, discounts, libraries, and student housing, as well as streamline administrative formalities related to mobility.
The pilot phase of the ESC in Poland has just been extended until the end of 2026. The decision was announced by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, in cooperation with the Inter-University Centre for Student Card Personalization at Poznań University of Technology. Thanks to this initiative, an increasing number of institutions – including the University of Zielona Góra – can implement the card for their students free of charge.
The ESC offers not only convenience but also security – each card contains an individual student number and a QR code, ensuring easy and safe verification. It enables quick confirmation of student status in participating countries and access to local benefits. In the long term, the card is set to become a universal key to digital student services across Europe and a symbol of academic integration.
