The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Zielona Góra have been included on the list of CEEPUS beneficiaries in the academic year 2023-24.  The main objective of the Central European Exchange Program for University Studies (CEEPUS) is to support academic exchange in the field of education and professional development of students and academic teachers.

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Zielona Góra has become a partner institution in the project Development, education and practical improvement in the field of multifaceted problems of designing and manufacturing products for industrial and biomedical purposes” with the acronym INTEGRATION, which is located in the just published winning list of beneficiaries of the program CEEPUS for the academic year 2023/2024. The partner network consists of 29 entities, including 7 from Poland and 22 from the following 13 countries of Central and Eastern Europe: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Croatia, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Hungary.

INTEGRATION as the main slogan of the Project will be carried out in five independent planes synergistically related to each other, including: [1] the scientific disciplines; [2] countries participating in the project; [3] scientific research, education, dissemination of research results and popularisation of science and science schools; [4] cooperation of partner institutions constituting the Universities with industrial entities and non-governmental organizations (NGOs); [5] substantive goals, taking into account the sustainable development idea and the concept of Industry 4.0.

As part of the project, it is planned to organize the International Conference "Achievements in Materials and Manufacturing Engineering for General, Dental and Medical Applications” AMME-bio INTEGRATION. Researchers representing partner institutions are invited to publish articles in the English-language journals indexed in the SCOPUS database entitled “Journal of Achievements in Materials and Manufacturing Engineering” JAMME and "Archives of Materials Science and Engineering" AMSE as well as chapters in two American books (NOVA Science Publishers, NY, USA) on engineering materials and laser technology, respectively. The project also includes international exchange of academic teachers, PhD students and students. The project coordinator on behalf of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the contact person is Prof. Anna Dobrzanska-Danikiewicz.

We encourage everyone interested, representing relevant scientific disciplines, to participate in the project!

The Institute of Mechanical Engineering has become a partner institution of a network with the title Engineering as a language of communication in Europe. A total of 52 units from Central and Eastern European countries participate in the partner network. The main coordinator is professor Krzysztof Rokosz from the Department of Electronics and Informatics at the Koszalin University of Technology. The aim of this CEEPUS network is to build channels of communication and cooperation between engineers from different disciplines, as well as the possibility of creating Interdisciplinary Engineering Teams.

As is well known, a lot of experience is now needed in technical disciplines applicable to a wide range of complex problems. Hence, engineers should be prepared to work at the interface of two or more disciplines - responding to the demands of industry and science.

The main task of the network is to engage teachers and students from the partner institutions to create team projects. Thanks to the engineering knowledge and soft skills (the ability to work in an international team), all students in their future careers will be able to communicate freely and work in international companies and continue their studies, among others, with a PhD at any university in the world.

Plans for 2023-2024 include:

  • International CEEPUS Workshop on surface engineering, applied and sustainable engineering and trends in electronics and informatics at Koszalin University of Technology (PL), 2023,
  • CEEPUS Excursion to Institute of Technology and Business in Ceske Budejovice (CZ), 2023,
  • development of long-term mobilities for staff and students; starting of joint PhD thesis between partners,
  • developing of the Network Freemover Mobilities with Montanuniversität Leoben (Austria) and Technical University of Liberec (CZ),
  • continuation of cooperation with other CEEPUS Networks.

The project also includes international exchanges of academics, regular and PhD students. The project coordinator from the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and contact person is Professor Justyna Patalas-Maliszewska and Małgorzata Śliwa, PhD. All those interested, representing relevant scientific disciplines, are encouraged to participate in the project.

Last but not least, the Faculty of Humanities at our university has become a partner in the prestigious “Healthcare Communication project in the academic year 2023/2024.

As part of this innovative project, the faculty will collaborate with renowned universities from across Europe. Our partners include institutions such as Charles University, Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen, Department of Languages (Czech Republic); Comenius University in Bratislava, Jessenius Faculty of Medicine, Department of Foreign Languages (Slovakia); George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science, and Technology of Targu Mures, Petru Major Faculty of Science and Letters, Foreign Language Department (Romania); Masaryk University, Faculty of Medicine, Language Center (Czech Republic); Matej Bel University in Banska Bystrica, Faculty of Arts, Department of German Studies (Slovakia); Semmelweis University, Department of Languages for Specific Purposes (Hungary); Silesian University in Opava, Faculty of Public Policies, Institute of Paramedical Health Studies (Czech Republic); University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Arts, Department of Translation Studies (Slovenia); University of Belgrade, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Humanities (Serbia); University of Belgrade, School of Dental Medicine, English Language (Serbia); University of Graz, Diagnostic & Research Department of Forensic Medicine (Austria).

The Healthcare Communication project aims to develop communication skills in the field of medicine and healthcare. We believe that our participation in this program will enable us to exchange knowledge, experience, and best practices with our partners from different countries. Our network of healthcare communication is a pioneering initiative that analyzes communication in healthcare in multiple languages and cultures under the CEEPUS program. Instructors, researchers, healthcare professionals, and students involved in this network possess extensive knowledge of intercultural and interprofessional approaches to medical communication. Our activities within the network include training and interprofessional research on medical terminology, communication, translation, interpretation, and languages for specific purposes. Through mobility opportunities, our network facilitates the exchange of knowledge, research materials, and teaching resources.

We aim to create an environment where patients have the chance to experience greater satisfaction, while language teachers and medical researchers can develop their pedagogical and research skills.

We invite all interested individuals to join our project and share their knowledge and experiences (contact the coordinator: Dr. Anna Kuzio; a.kuzio@in.uz.zgora.pl). Together, we can make a real difference in the field of healthcare and medical communication.
