Events
The calendar of cultural and sports events in our city is always full of new propositions. Importantly, a few periodic events organised in Zielona Góra have become a crucial part of the city’s entrainment offer.
Some of them are:
- the Winobranie Wine Festival – the biggest wine festival in Poland and the holiday of Zielona Góra which takes place in September every year and lasts one week. The festival abounds in many attractions, such as: concerts, fair, open-air games, sports competitions, accompanying cultural events and trips to local vineyards within the so–called Wine-Buses.
- the Festival of Open Wine Cellars – historic wine cellars, which are largely unavailable for tourists on a daily basis, are opened during the festival. At this time local winemakers are waiting for you in every cellar. Few-hundred-year-old wine cellars form significant monuments of Zielona Góra’s winemaking. Presently, some of them are being used as restaurants or cafés.
- events in the Ethnographic Museum – in the museum’s calendar you can find such events as: the Holiday of Honey, the Kaziuki Easter Fair, U progu Jesieni (At the Threshold of Autumn), Dobre, smaczne, bo Lubuskie! (Good, tasty because from the Lubuskie province!) and a traditional grape harvest. Thereby, the museum preserves our old traditions and emphasizes the character of the region, allows one to taste local food and dishes, as well as supports indigenous artists, craftsmen and producers.
- Lato Muz Wszelakich (the Summer of All Muses) – a series of events organised by the Zielona Góra Culture Centre during holidays. The programme of the Summer of All Muses includes many various events. One of them is BuskerBus, i.e. a festival of street performances during which you can see street performers and artists from all over the world.
- Bachanalia – the holiday of the University of Zielona Góra’s students, whose name relates to the local winemaking traditions and Bacchus – the god of wine and a symbol of Zielona Góra. At this time it is UZ’s students who seize power over the city and have fun for a week. The programme of the event includes, among other attractions: grand barbecuing, concerts, discos, contests and competitions.
