The University of Zielona Góra’s Botanical Garden was created in 2007. The university manages the garden professionally and uses its educational and scientific potential. The garden is open all year round. The entrance tickets cost: 1 zł/a half-price ticket and 2 zł/a full-price ticket. Tour groups can explore the garden with a guide. The Botanical Garden is a perfect place for strolls and relaxation with a book.
Nowadays, the collection of plants in the garden totals over 1500 species and varieties. These plants are divided into 5 topical areas: the Plant Systematics, the Moisture-loving Plants, the Mountain Plants, the Domesticated Plants, the Geographical Area and related sub-areas. There is also a green class in the shape of an Indian wigwam. Moreover, the garden management is planning to expand the acreage for new plants.
In addition, the Ptasi Azyl Centre for Rehabilitation of Animals Under Protection (Bird Asylum) operates next to the garden. Since its establishment in 2016, the centre has rescued over 800 animals and can be proud of releasing many birds back into the wild.
